California Wine Events – May 2017
Can you believe that there is finally an adult camp all about wine? This two day, two night Adult Wine Camp takes place on May 2-4 in Murphys, California. Murphy’s is an historic town located in Calaveras County. It’s a charming Gold Rush town known for its wineries, restaurants, and unique shops.
Learn about wine with fun, “hands on” experiences directly from the local winery owners and wine makers. Spend two nights at the Courtwood Inn. Enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning, lunch at a winery, lots of wine tastings, and a wine and food pairing.

If you’re looking for a reason to visit the beautiful La Jolla Cove, make plans to attend the Junior League of San Diego’s Food & Wine Festival on May 6. Don your Derby hat while cheering for your favorite horse during this special viewing of the Kentucky. Enjoy fabulous food, wine, and beer. Live music, a hat contest, prizes, and a silent auction all add to the fun.
Hopland’s Spring Passport Weekend on May 6th and 7th. 14 wineries will be pairing their wines with delicious food. Experience small town fun at the Firefighter’s Barbecue & Dance on Saturday night. Live music will be provided by David Luning.
Enjoy hometown charm at the Downtown Livermore Street Fest on May 6 and 7. Explore over 300 vendor booths as well as the restaurants and boutiques of Livermore’s historic downtown area. There will be wine, craft beer, arts and crafts, shopping, dining, and live entertainment.
Stop by the beautiful Lester Estate on the San Joaquin River for the Valley Public Radio’s Annual Wine Tasting – Splendor in the Glass/ This afternoon of wine, food, and live music takes place on May 7th. More than 40 vintners will be pouring their wines. All proceeds benefit Valley Public Radio FM89. Board free shuttle buses for transportation from Bakersfield or Visalia.
Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Madera Wine Trails “Spring Wine Trail Adventure” on May 13 and 14. It’s a weekend of wine tasting fun as you visit each of the seven participating wineries. There will be live music and other activities as well as food.
The 14th Annual El Dorado Hills Art & Wine Affaire takes place on May 13 and 14 at the El Dorado Hills Town Center. Browse the fine art of more than 80 artists who will be displaying their artwork. Enjoy live music. Fabulous food will be available. Wineries and craft breweries will be available for tasting. The event itself is free, but there is a fee to sample wine or beer.
Head to the Paso Robles Wine Festival on May 13 and 14. Taste wine from more than 70 wineries all in one location: two days of wine tasting at the Paso Robles Downtown City Park. Special events include wine maker dinners and educational seminars as well. Check it out!
The Lodi Zinfest takes place May 19-21. Get ready for three days of fun. There’s a special Vintners’ Dinner at Lodi Lake on Friday, May 19th. The dinner usually sells out well in advance. On Saturday more than 40 Lodi wineries will be pouring samples of their wine at Lodi Lake. Relax along the Mokulumne River while listening to live music and sipping fabulous wine. On Sunday take a self-guided tour of the wineries to taste their wines and enjoy special activities. One of the most popular May 2017 events!
Head to the beautiful Anderson Valley for the annual Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festivalon May 19-21. The Grand tasting on May 20 will feature wine tasting from over 55 Pinot Noir producers pair with gourmet food and live music. On Sunday it’s time to travel to the tasting rooms of individual wineries where you’ll sample more great wine and enjoy special activities. Special winemaker dinners are also being planned.
