Point Lobos State ReservePoint Lobos State Reserve offers spectacular beauty near Monterey. Explore the rich marine life, unique geological formations, gorgeous coastal views, and the abundance of coastal plant and animal life.

The scenery is truly breathtaking. This is the place to head to “get alway from it all” and enjoy the tranquility of nature at its best.

This state park is the ideal place for hikers. There are short hiking trails leading to panoramic views or longer hikes for those who are looking for more. There are even a few trails that are wheelchair accessible. Take a look at the Trail Map .

Great Views Point Lobos, CaliforniaPoint Lobos is home to many animals including seals, sea lions, sea otters, a great variety of birds, and migrating gray whales. Whales are often spotted from shore from December through May.

The 70 foot high kelp forests are one of the richest marine habitats in California, making it a popular place for both scuba diving and free diving. Diving is allowed at Whalers and Bluefish Coves.

There is a charge for scuba diving. Upon entering the reserve, divers must show proof of certification to get permission to dive. Reservations are recommended especially for weekends and holidays. Unless you are a diver, you will only see half of the reserve. Make reservations by calling (831)624-8413 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm Monday through Friday.

tidepoolsThis is a popular destination for diving, hiking, bird watching, photography, exploring tidepools, picnicing, and nature study. A schedule of guided walks for the month is posted at the entrance station. The museums are normally open from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M.
