The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is the last of the great seaside amusement parks still operating in the United States and home to two National Historic Landmarks – the 1911 Looff Carousel and 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster. The entire property is a State Historic Landmark.
Owned and operated by the Santa Cruz Seaside Company since 1915, the Boardwalk remains a family style amusement park enjoyed by many. It’s the place to go for fun in the sun! Visitors are thrilled by the classic and modern rides, video game arcades, minature golf, restaurants, family bowling, unique shops, and a mile of sandy beach.
On Friday nights throughout the summer guests are treated to live music from the 70s and 80s as rock bands perform on the beach bandstand. Special events are scheduled all year long and admission to the boardwalk is always free.
Throughout the summer there will be Free Movies on the Beach at 9 PM on Wednesday evenings. Check out the schedule on their website below.
There are a number of ticket options to choose from. If you plan to visit the boardwalk multiple times, a season pass may be your best bet. You will enjoy unlimited rides every day of the season with this season pass. You’ll also receive additional coupons for savings throughout the season. Costco usually has the best prices daily rates for unlimited ride and attraction combo passes. Pick up tickets at a nearby Costco.
In the past The Boardwalk also has a special called Retro Nights. On Mondays and Tuesdays after 5 PM rides, pepsi drinks, hot dogs, and cotton candy are only $1 each. We have to wait and see if this will continue during the next season.
