Wine Pairing: We love the citrusy flavors of a nice Chardonnay to pair with this wine sauce. Drink the same Chardonnay that you use to prepare this white wine sauce. You can find some fabulous Chardonnay wines in all price ranges. Our suggestions would include Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve, Butternut Chardonay, or any of the Talbott Chardonnays.
Ingredients for wine sauce:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup white wine
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Instructions for sauce:
1. Combine the cream, wine, flour, salt, garlic, pepper and parsley in a medium saucepan. Stir all together and bring to a boil.
2. Reduce heat to low and simmer until thickened. Enjoy this sauce over your favorite dishes.
(This white wine sauce recipe also works in the microwave. Just heat until it reaches desired thickness. Stirring every minute or so.)
Variations: Use your imagination with this versatile sauce. I often add fresh shivered parmesan cheese and/or sauteed mushrooms to the sauce as well. If I am serving this white wine sauce over fish, I usually add the juice from a freshly squeezed lemon. It’s delicious.
