Don’t miss the world famousSan Luis Obispo Farmers’ Market.. Visitors come from up and down the state to enjoy the food, produce, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. It happens Thursday evenings in downtown SLO. This is a popular event that everyone must experience at least once!

Stay at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort in Avila Beach. Every room has a private hot tub on the balcony. The grounds are wonderfully landscaped. Pamper yourself at their spa for a variety of delightful spa treatments. Even if you aren’t staying at the resort, make reservation to dine at their much acclaimed romantic restaurant. Gardens at Avila is a gourmet restaurant right at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort. You don’t need to get in your car and drive somewhere to experience fine dining.

We were served wines by the owner, Scott Remmenga, who was friendly and   interesting to talk to. We especially liked theEdna Valley Pinot Noir. It was   peppery, fruity, and well balanced. Another favorite was the Paso Robles   Zinfandel, which was spicy and bold. They offer a Zinfandel Port as well as a   Late Harvest Moscato for sweet wine lovers.

The tasting room of this San Luis Obispo winery looks like an historic schoolhouse, very charming and nicely landscaped. There are tables outside for picnicking that offer a panoramic view of the scenery. There was a $5 charge for tasting. The tasting room was sunny with lots of windows to let you view the fantastic scenery while tasting. Our favorite was the 2002 Pinto Noir which was listed in the Top 100 Wines of 2005 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. They also have Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, and a blend called Mosaico.

This small Edna Valley winery specializes in handcrafted wines. Wines are reasonably priced compared to many others in the area. We liked their champagne and their Pinot Noir. The Straw Bale Red, a Pinot Noir blend, was a best buy at only $12.50. They also produce Dry Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Nektar Sweet Riesling, and a Port.

This San Luis Obispo winery is well known for its estate-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They also have small lots of other varietals sold only through their wine tasting room and their wine club. You have a spectacular view of the Edna Valley from their wine tasting room. Tours are given hourly on weekends from 11-3. It’s one of the San Luis Obispo wineries that you really should visit.

While touring San Luis Obispo wineries, make a stop at Laetitia. It’s right off the freeway for easy access and the wine is great!
