Relax in comfort at the Blackberry Inn Mendocino. It’s located just a few minutes from downtown Mendocino. This adorable inn offers unique lodging in a quiet hillside setting. And they do it at a price that is quite reasonable for Mendocino.
Each room exterior is modeled after buildings you’d expect to see in an old Western town. Rooms include Sheriff’s Office, Saloon, Bank, Barbershop, School House, and so on. I have to admit that I was worried that the setting might be a little “too quirky”. After arrival, I found that the unique decor is adorable.
The grounds and the rooms are meticulously maintained. The property is surrounded by meadows and trees. There’s even a view of the ocean through the trees in the distance. You can see the ocean from some of the rooms.
Interiors are spacious and well appointed. Guests are greeted with a basket of sweets. The basket includes cookies and homemade breads. You also receive a bottle of local wine. Chocolates are sitting on the bedside table.
We stayed in the Bank and we loved it. Amenities included a king size bed and huge bathroom with roman tub and shower. It even had a small well-stocked kitchen area and a sitting area. The room was equipped with a cable flat screened television. The room had a window seat with a partial ocean view. WI-FI was included for free. It was a cheerful room with lots of windows letting in the natural light.
Blackberry Inn is family owned with great pride in providing guests with a wonderful experience. Customer service is outstanding. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. We will definitely return next time we are visiting Mendocino!

Many people who visit Mendocino, are seeking rest and relaxation. They want to just “get away from it all” and do nothing. However, you really should get out and explore the spectacular scenery. Stroll through the small village of Mendocino. Find unique little shops, art galleries, and places to dine overlooking gorgeous ocean views.
There’s a great little restaurant in Mendocino that offers outstanding dining. Visit Cafe Beaujolais in downtown Mendocino. The food is outstanding. The ambiance is lovely and the service is friendly and attentive. We’re never disappointed with a meal at this lovely restaurant.
Visit Van Damme State Park. Take a stroll on the beach or dive for abalone. Hike through the redwoods all the way to the unique Pygmy Forest. Van Damme is just three miles south of Mendocino.
Drive north on Highway 1 to Fort Brag to visit the Mendocino Botanical Gardens. Stroll through 47 acres of beautiful gardens. Hike through the gardens all the way to the ocean where there’s an observation room where you can sit and view the scenery. There’s a gift shop, small cafe, and a nursery that sells plants.
While in Fort Brag, board the Skunk Train for a journey through a redwood forest. It’s a scenic ride narrated by the conductor. While on a recently ride, we were entertained by a train singer who played a variety of instruments. He sang train songs and even took song requests. It’s a fun day!
