October 2017There are many events planned for October 2017. Don’t miss out on a event that you are sure to enjoy. Check out upcoming events and make your plans soon. October is the time to attend a Grape Stomp and experience other harvest activities. It’s always time to sample wines, enjoy live music, and learn about pairing wine and food.

October 2017 – Wine Country Events

October 6-8: Sonoma County Harvest Fair – Santa Rosa
Participate in a farm to table celebration that includes world-class wines, award-winning beers and ciders, as well as a variety of culinary delights. More than 100 wineries will be pour their wines.

Enjoy chef demonstrations, wine tasting seminars, and gourmet meals. This is one of Sonoma County’s most popular events.


grapes being harvestedOctober 6-8: Big Crush Harvest Festival – Amador County
Spend some time in the scenic foothills of the Amador Wine Country. Stomp grapes, enjoy creative food and wine pairings, live music, and a variety of harvest activities. This includes a Grape Stomp on Friday evening. Taste wine at more than 40 wineries.

October 7: 27th Annual Calaveras Grape Stomp
Teams of two compete to extract the most juice out of measured amounts of wine grapes. Prizes are awarded. Costumes are encouraged and prizes are awarded to best costumes. Participate yourself or come watch the fun!

There’s also a silent auction, street fair, and a raffle. The Grand Prize raffle winner will get to choose between a vacation to Australia or New Zealand. Murphy’s is an historic Gold Rush town with lots of wine tasting rooms and unique boutiques to explore.


View of Lake TahoeOctober 7: Truckee Wine, Walk, & Shop
Sip wine and sample local food. Enjoy unique shopping in Truckee’s historic downtown area.
Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at 30+ venues as well as five food tickets and a map to all participating venues. Truckee is just a short distance from beautiful Lake Tahoe where you can enjoy a wide variety of activities.

LaJollaCoveNewOctober 7-8: La Jolla Art and Wine Festival – San Diego Area
This annual event is one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in Southern California. It’s a juried art fair featuring works of art from over 150 established artists. Admission is free. Enjoy the charms of downtown La Jolla. Participate in a silent auction, enjoy live entertainment, visit the gourmet marketplace, and taste local wines and beers.


face paintingOctober 7-8: Camp Richardson Oktoberfest – Lake Tahoe
This Oktoberfest celebration offers fun for the entire family. Sip from a souvenir beer mug and sink your teeth into a freshly-cooked turkey leg or IPA beer-infused bratwurst. Thrill the kids with a trip to the face painting booth before heading to the bouncy house or bungee jump to burn off some energy. And in addition to a well-stocked beer and wine garden, an assortment of delicious German food and desserts, it’s your chance to get up and dance to live music by the crowd-pleasing Gruber Family Band. Plus, it’s free to attend October 2017!


Cheese and Wine
October 14-15: 41st Annual Riverbank Cheese & Wine Exposition
Taste locally produced artisanal cheeses, award-winning Central Valley wines, as well as a selection of craft beers. More than 100 vendors, consisting of artists and crafters from all over the United States, and food booths, add excitement to this festive occasion. This event offers fun for the whole family. There’s also a full carnival, a fantastic kids area with rides and games, and live music. Admission is free.


Dry Creek Valley
October 14: Wine Road’s Magical Mystery Tour
Enjoy a day of Wine and Food along the Wine Road with tours of four wineries in the Dry Creek Area The tour will visit four wineries, where you will taste four wines with a food pairing. Tours are limited to 20 people. Shh…It’s a secret where you are going. Don’t ask…they can’t tell you! You will be tasting Zinfandel, Rhone varietals, and other wines from Dry Creek.


Grape HarvestOctober 20: Harvest Wine Weekend – Paso Robles
Discover award winning wines at this annual wine weekend. Events take place at the more than 100 participating wineries located throughout Paso Robles. Join in the fun and discover a new favorite wine as well. Events include winemaker dinners, grape stomps, barrel tastings, food and wine pairing, and live music. A great time to visit Paso Robles!


accordion October 21: Swiss Day 2017 – Paso Robles
Kick off your shoes and enjoy a folksy, flavorful afternoon of Swiss-style delights! Explore traditional Swiss dishes prepared by Executive Chef Randal Torres paired with Vina Robles estate wines and melodies by accordionist Michael Gutin. Guests are also invited to participate in the grape stomp and imprint their feet on a souvenir t-shirt.
