Dry Creek Kitchen Healdsburg – The Place to Dine

Dry Creek Kitchen Healdsburg
Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen Healdsburg offers world class dining in Sonoma County. This restaurant has the perfect blend of wine country charm and elegance. Under the direction of executive chef, Andrew Wilson, Dry Creek Kitchen continues to be “the place to go” for an outstanding meal in downtown Healdsburg.

Sonoma Chicken
We recently celebrated my wife’s birthday and were happy with the incredible food from beginning to end. She loved the flavors and variety of textures of the Sonoma chicken with rosemary garlic and yukon gold potato puree. Her side dish of duncan’s mushrooms was generous and tasty. The chicken was cooked just right.

I enjoyed a well prepared roasted liberty farm duck breast and confit of duck leg with a side dish of seasonal country vegetables. Everything was delicious! Upon the recommendation of the sommelier, Rolando Maldonado, we paired our meal with a bottle of 2014 Cuvee Blanc from Unti Vineyards.

Couple Drinking Wine
This blend of Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, and Picpoul is a unique full bodied white wine that was an excellent pairing. Rolando went out of his way to discuss the local wines and even recommended wineries that we should visit. The wine list is extensive and the prices are reasonable. Tip: They waive the corkage fee on the first two bottles of Sonoma County wine that you bring in. What a deal!

We shared the caramelia mousse gateau with white chocolate sauce, chocolate tuile, and bittersweet chocolate ice cream. It was a scrumptuous ending to an amazing dinner.

Dry Creek Kitchen InsideBoth 3-course and five-course tasting menus are available with or without wine. Enjoy contemporary and classic jazz on Monday and Tuesday evenings featuring local Sonoma County musicians. Dry Creek Kitchen is located across from the tree-lined Healdsburg Plaza in downtown Healdsburg. Dine outdoors on the vine-covered terrace or indoors in their elegant dining room.

Tasty Restaurant – Scopa in Downtown Healdsburg

Scopa Restaurant - tasty restaurant

After a day of wine tasting in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley, my wife and I recently headed to Scopa Restaurant, a tasty restaurant near the plaza in downtown Healdsburg. Evidently this tiny little establishment was formerly a barber shop. Watch for the sign that says “Barber Shop” and you’ve found Scopa.

The ambiance is casual and charming. We felt right at home as we were seated at a high top table by a friendly server.

I ordered the spaghetti, Tomasso’s Sugo Calabrese, made with both pork and beef sugo. This hearty dish came with an amazing sauce that I thoroughly enjoyed. The flavors were phenomenal. This is the ultimate comfort food and I devoured every last bite.

My wife had Nonna’s Chicken with sauteed greens and soft polenta. It was served in a little pot that kept the food hot. The chicken was moist and tender and incredibly delicious. It literally fell off the bone. The polenta was supper yummy. Another fabulous dish; we both agreed that we could eat this delicious spaghetti and chicken every day and be totally happy.

chocolate souffle
For dessert we shared the molten chocolate soufflé with vanilla creme anglaise. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. We loved everything about Scopa from beginning to end.

If you want tasty Italian food made with fresh local ingredients, Scopa is the place to go. It really is one of the very best Healdsburg restaurants. If I lived closer, I would be a regular. Unfortunately, I am a two to three hour drive away. Whenever we go to Healdsburg, this will be a must stop for us. We’ve been back again and again since our first visit. We are always happy with Scopa!

My next visit will be on a Wednesday when local winemakers pour wine from their own winery. Wine Maker Wednesday is a weekly event that lets consumers meet the people behind the wines we drink. It’s required for inclusion on their wine list. A great idea!

Make reservations well in advance as Scopa is a tasty restaurant and an extremely popular place to dine.

My wife and I have been to this Healdsburg restaurant many times and have not found a dish we didn’t like. The food is simply outstanding. If we lived closer, we would be regulars at this incredible restaurant. However, we never visit the area without paying at least one visit to Willi’s.

Willi’s has a comprehensive wine and beer list as well as a list of creative cocktails. Wine is sold by the bottle, half-bottle, and by the glass. Servers have always been friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Favorites that I order often include the warm Maine Lobster Roll with garlic butter and fennel, hanger steak with chimichuri sauce, minted lamb, warm sourdough bread with garlic parsley butter, and mushrooms with creme fraiche. Try the cucumber martini. It may sound weird, but it is delicious!
